Did you know that if someone sends you an ‘@’ message via Twitter, that unless the symbol is at the beginning of the sentence, it doesn’t turn up in your Twitter replies?
For instance, this message appeared in my replies tab:

I don’t really know why this is the case, but if you want to make sure you see all tweets that mention your name there is an easy workaround.
Go to Twitter search, type in your username, for instance ‘@madlid’ (don’t forget the ‘@’ symbol first) and then subscribe to the RSS feed. Voila. Every time someone mentions you in their tweets, you’ll be notified.
Subscribing to @ comments is also useful if you want to see what people say about, or to, a particular person who is on Twitter; an easy way to keep track of friends and/or foes.
Thanks! I found that I missed some past tweets after doing this search. I always thought all of the @ replies were on the Replies tab.

If you’re not the RSS type but find e-mail more convenient to be notified of things, you could create a Google Alert, like this: [@yourname site:twitter.com]. As it occurs, daily or whatever frequency works for you. That way, when anyone tweets with your name, a reply, retweet or otherwise, it’ll come up in an alert sent straight to your e-mail inbox. Sweet.
How interesting. I wonder why it does that. Surely, it could be fixed.
The Google alert sounds nice. If you don’t get hundreds of e-mails already.

Twitter is very addictive. I like Twitter more than blogging. the messages are short and straight to the point.
