Google Needs Your Help to Celebrate Australia Day!

The Googlegods have been given permission to fly their plane low (600m) over parts of Sydney on January 26, photographing our great land and want Australians to do whatever it takes to make themselves visible.

Usually Google Maps use images that are taken from way higher, so people appear as little dots; this time they want you to get out there – hold up signs – stand in groups – make up patterns – be bold and you will be seen.

As this is the first time Google is trying this, they don’t know what to expect, but figure it will be fun trying.  The experiment begins at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to end around 2.15 p.m.

A map with times of the flyover can be found here and you will be able to track the route live on January 26.

Did Microsoft Use Linguists For Zune?

logzuneo.jpg

According to a recent article in Infoworld, the name of Microsoft’s new digital music player “Zune”, “Sounds like a vulgarity, specifically the ‘f’ word in Hebrew.”

Thanks to Valleywag for pointing this out, as well as noting the FCUK branding wasn’t a bad move by French Connection.(Love the title Valleywag gave the story; I suspect it will catch on real quick)

Speaking of Microsoft…..who said their developers were not clever?

Art Project Has Many A Computer Nut Hooked

linerider.jpg

Line Rider by ~fsk, over at deviantART did a project for illustration class.

The artist explains it is not a game - there are no goals and no score.

Oddly enough, anyone who touches it gets lost in it for hours.

Comments on improving it are welcome, particularly about sharing tracks.
